Caterpillars (age 2)

Growing independence with close support

Our Caterpillars room is for children who are becoming more mobile and curious, but who still need a high level of care and reassurance.

At this age, children begin to explore more confidently, and our team is always close by to support, guide and encourage them as they move through the nursery.

Freedom to explore

Children in Caterpillars have access to a range of spaces, including the garden, soft play room and their own dedicated sleep room.

This variety allows them to move freely between indoor and outdoor play, helping them develop physical skills such as running, jumping and fine motor control, while also supporting imaginative and ‘pretend’ play.

Supporting routines and toilet training

We operate on a 1:4 adult-to-child ratio, as we believe two-year-olds still benefit greatly from close attention and consistency

With toilets located next to the room, children are gently supported as they begin toilet training

Socially and emotionally, this stage is all about learning to play alongside others, showing affection, beginning to share and developing confidence in familiar routines.
