At Butterfly Nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and use Birth to 5 Matters as our core guidance for supporting and understanding children’s development.

This framework is created by Early Years experts and promotes a whole-child approach, recognising that every child is unique and develops at their own pace.

Alongside Birth to 5 Matters, our practice is inspired by a range of respected educational approaches including Reggio Emilia, Montessori, the Curiosity Approach, and our own Forest and Beach School principles. These influences help us create environments that are rich in exploration, creativity and real-world learning.

At the heart of everything we do is Learning Through Play. Children learn best when they’re curious, engaged and following their own interests. We use In-the-Moment Planning to extend learning as it happens, responding to new ideas, sparks of curiosity and the experiences that matter most to each child.

Our goal is simple: to nurture happy, confident and capable learners by offering meaningful experiences every single day.
